As you begin the game, you're greeted with a cinematic sequence that sets the tone for the rest of the experience. The scene proceeds to introduce the situation, but much of the dialogue is dense and complicated, making it difficult to follow.

However, the entity responsible for reviving you, Chip, an artificial intelligence itself, manages to escape the virus that corrupted the main AI. This simple yet effective setup provides your motivation to take down the rogue AI and restore order to the Arc. You've been re-atomized as a result of the chaos, and you're now the only one who can stop the rogue AI from wreaking havoc.

Roguelite games are often criticized for their lackluster storytelling, but we believe that ArcRunner's narrative is incredibly easy to understand. While it may not be a complex or deeply emotional tale, its simplicity makes it engaging and accessible to players of all levels. We're big fans of roguelites with strong narratives, so it's refreshing to see a game like ArcRunner that doesn't sacrifice storytelling for the sake of gameplay.

ArcRunner has been on our radar since we first laid eyes on it due to its breathtaking graphics, futuristic setting, and multiplayer mode. After waiting just over three months, the game is finally out, and we're thrilled to have had the opportunity to get our hands on it. As one of the top roguelites we covered in our list of the Top 10 most anticipated releases of the year, ArcRunner has a lot to live up to.
